LEAVING CARE PARTICIPATION GROUP

Getting Involved

The CID Development Group is an informal group consisting of a number of young people that help decide policy, arrange activities and events and make presentations on behalf of Care In Durham.

CID has plans to make the group more formal and seek funding to make the young people involved' young people's representatives and attend conferences, seminars and arrange events and activities, they will also visit residentail units to try and get to know more about what young people want from CID.

Eventually some of the group will receive training and hopefully undertake college courses to become locally qualified youth workers for the project.

Currently the group includes:

Claire Lowden (Volunteer)

David Thornton (Volunteer)

Mellissa Murray

James Clint

Gemma Preston

Zoe Kelly

Claire Tindale

David (Chunk) Forster (Volunteer)

Kirsty Richardson

Louise Lowes (Volunteer)

YOU if you're interested!

We would like to include some younger people both from Resi and Fostering. We would particualarly like someone from one or more of the residential units across the county. Our group is really keen and work hard. If you think that you might like it, can make a commitment (we meet at least once a fortnight, often more) you can contact CID on 0191 3844200 or email us at careindurham@btconnect.com and let us know of your interest. We'll arrange a night for you to come and meet us all and pay you your bus fares. If it works out then you're in. It's that simple!

The current members are really nice and will help you keep up until you have made yourself comfortable with us. We work at an easy pace and, occasionally, do some events of our own to reward you for your efforts.

I hate to do this but circumstances force my hand. Care In Durham has no affliliation with Damian Drazdauskas and Universal Imports, he does not represent Care in Durham in any way and can not be contacted via the organisation. Please do not contact CID about this person or his various websites and activities.
